Meet Sarah Andress: Eating Disorder Therapist and More
At Bloomfield Psychology, we are thrilled to welcome Sarah Andress to our therapy team! Sarah (she/her/hers) earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina, and completed her clinical internships with USC's Center for Disability Resources and Lexington Medical Center. She is licensed in both Colorado and South Carolina.
Sarah specializes in working with individuals navigating body image issues and eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, atypical anorexia, and anorexia with binge purge cycles, as well as any complex or complicated relationship with food and eating. In therapy, she takes an interdisciplinary, person-centered approach and remains committed to researching new modalities to best fit each individual's unique needs. If you have ever found yourself wondering, "Why am I afraid of food?" , wondering how to support someone with anorexia, or searching for “eating disorder help near me,” Sarah is here to help. She understands that eating disorders can be sneaky and complex, and she is dedicated to meeting each person exactly where they are.
Sarah is open to working with patients who have recently been discharged from inpatient care, with the requirement that they are currently working with a dietitian. She sees clients ranging from age ten through adulthood.
Beyond eating disorders, Sarah also brings experience working with individuals with personality disorders, particularly narcissistic and borderline personality disorder, though she is open to treating a wide range of presentations. She welcomes a therapeutic exploration beyond DBT, always seeking the modalities that resonate most with each client. Sarah also warmly welcomes anyone looking for therapy for depression, anxiety, or everyday life stressors.
We are excited about the possibility of Sarah getting her dog, Indiana Jones, certified as a therapy dog. Hopefully one day soon, Indy may one day be a comforting furry presence during sessions. In her free time, Sarah loves spending time outdoors and building Legos.
